Chapter 1

My sister was a pathological do-gooder. To maintain her saint-like image, she insisted on marrying a broke student.

I, on the other hand, followed our parents’ wishes. I married a powerful CEO from a family that matched our own status.

After the wedding, my sister became a miserable housewife. She was covered in grease and dust every single day.

Meanwhile, I was treated like a queen. My husband spoiled me rotten.

He bought me massive diamonds and spent millions just to see me smile. My life was a dream.

My sister’s jealousy turned into a deadly rage. She drove a dagger into my chest.

As I lay dying, I pulled the blade out and stabbed her right back. We were going down together.

When I opened my eyes again, the world was bright.

I heard my sister’s shy voice talking to our mother. “Mom, you’ve always loved me the most. I know you want what’s best for me. I’ve always had a crush on Silas anyway. I’ll do as you say.”

In that instant, I knew. My sister had been reborn, too.

She didn’t realize that this was exactly what I wanted.

Marrying that man was the biggest mistake of my life.

“Why do you get to have a better life than me? Being good is supposed to be rewarded! Why wasn't it me?!”

“You’ve always been better than me since we were kids. I hate you! Just die!”

My sister gripped the dagger tightly and plunged it into my heart.

Ignoring the agony, I pulled the blade out. I used every ounce of my remaining strength to shove it into her chest.

Pain flooded my entire body. My head throbbed with a deafening buzz.

When I opened my eyes again, I was sitting on the sofa in our family’s living room.

My mother was leaning toward my sister, trying to convince her. “That poor student might be smart, but you’re used to luxury. How could you handle being poor? If you ask me, you should marry the Montgomery boy. Their family is huge, and best of all, you won’t have any mother-in-law drama to deal with.”

My sister replied in a sweet, submissive tone. “Mom, you’ve always looked out for me. I’ll listen to you.”

My eyes widened as I stared at her. I knew she had returned from the dead, just like me.

In our last life, she insisted on marrying the broke student to prove how “selfless” she was. No matter how hard Mom tried to stop her, she wouldn't listen.

Now, she was accepting the arrangement with a smile.

The man she was talking about was Silas Montgomery. He was my husband from my previous life.

Just hearing his name made the hair on my arms stand up.

My mother was thrilled. She didn't want her daughter to suffer with a nobody. Plus, a connection with the Montgomerys would save our family business.

Mom’s face lit up with a massive grin. “I’ll call them right away! If you join their family, you’ll have a life of pure bliss.”

My sister believed her. After all, she had watched Silas spoil me for years. She was drowning in envy back then.

While Mom was busy on the phone, my sister walked over to me. She leaned in and whispered, “Sera, I guess I’ll be the one living the high life now.”

I looked at her with a blank expression. My heart didn't even flicker.

She had no idea.

Marrying that monster was my greatest regret.

This time, I was going to make sure our lives never crossed again.
