Chapter 2

The next day, Gavin blocked me on everything.

Text, calls, social media―he vanished.

In his place, Sienna posted a long, tearful essay.

She painted herself as a victim, describing a "clumsy mistake by a junior assistant."

She claimed she didn't know a child would be training there that day.

She said she just wanted to pull a prank on Coach Sinclair by moving the nets.

She never imagined it would lead to a tragedy.

At the end, she tagged Gavin.

【Thank you, Coach, for protecting me and not giving up on me. Please stop attacking him. He lost his son; he is hurting more than anyone.】

The comments were filled with sympathy for her.

【Don't cry, Sienna. It was an accident.】

【Coach Sinclair is going through so much. His wife is so unsupportive.】

【That woman is evil. Her son just died and she is attacking her husband's colleagues online.】

Gavin reposted it immediately with a caption: 【The truth will set us free.】

His athletes and fans swarmed in.

A wave of online harassment crashed over me.

My phone buzzed constantly with hateful messages.

I didn't read a single one.

I calmly opened my laptop and logged into the board of directors portal for Summit Peak.

My father had left this account to me years ago.

I hadn't touched it in a long time.

The password was Leo's birthday.

It worked.

In the list of board members, my name sat at the very top.

I was the majority shareholder.

I found the contact info for HR.

A woman with a sharp, professional voice picked up.

"Hello, this is Joanna Sterling."

There was a pause, then her voice turned incredibly respectful.

"Mrs. Sterling! How can I help you?"

"Effective immediately, freeze all project funding and resources for Head Coach Gavin Sinclair."

"Also, check your email. I am sending a list of employees who are to be suspended pending an internal investigation."

The list included everyone who had supported Sienna's post and attacked me.

The HR director gasped.

"But... Mrs. Sterling... Coach Sinclair is..."

"Did I stutter?"

My voice was flat and cold.

"He is a coach. I am the owner."

"Do it now."
