Chapter 1

I had just gone public with my boyfriend when his "best girl-mate" added me on WhatsApp in the middle of the night.

"I'm basically Gavin's father. He asked me to come over and see if you're actually good enough for him."

I looked at her cutesy pink profile picture, and my blood started to boil.

My clingy boyfriend leaned against me and whispered. "There's a birthday party tomorrow. I'll take you there to tear that pick-me girl apart myself."

It was midnight, and I was in the middle of a 1v1 duel in Wild Rift with my boyfriend.

Right at the climax of the battle, a notification popped up. It blocked my entire screen and caused me to lose yet again.

Looking at my 2-5-0 score, I was fuming. But after I read the message, my anger hit the ceiling.

Gavin was still sitting next to me, bragging like an idiot. "Hehe, babe, look! My score is 5-2-0. It means I love you!"

I slapped the back of his head in frustration. Gavin clutched his head and looked at me with puppy-dog eyes.

"What's wrong, babe? I thought we agreed not to get mad even if we lost?"

I tossed my phone right in front of him. "Oh, I wasn't mad about the game. But I didn't know you had a beautiful girl for a father!"

Gavin picked up the phone and looked at it. His face turned pale instantly.

"No way! I didn't do this!"

"I never told her to add you!"

"What? So you really do have a girl-dad?"

I narrowed my eyes and glared at him. Gavin froze and frantically began to deny everything, explaining the whole situation.

That was when I found out that in Gavin's circle of friends, there was a girl named Jocelyn Reed.

She was a notorious pick-me girl.

Even though I hadn't met her yet, I knew she was a snake. Apparently, since Gavin and his friends started college, every girlfriend they ever had was driven away by her.

At first, Gavin didn't realize Jocelyn was the one pulling the strings.

It wasn't until Gavin started chasing me and asked his other female friends for advice that he realized the truth. As long as Jocelyn was around, none of them could keep a relationship.

Because of this, Gavin didn't tell his bros a single thing about me while he was pursuing me. He was terrified that Jocelyn would find out and ruin everything.

A few days ago, I insisted on using his phone to post our relationship announcement. That was how his friends finally found out I existed.

As for Jocelyn, she was quite popular. We were at the same university, and she was the vice-president of the Information Department.

Finding my WhatsApp number was child's play for her.

After explaining everything, Gavin looked at me with a worried expression.

"Babe, you're not going to leave me because I kept Jocelyn a secret, right?"

"I was wrong. I'll never hide anything from you again."

Gavin wrapped his arms around my waist, terrified I'd break up with him in a fit of rage. After all, it took him six months of hard work to finally win me over.

Plus, I'm an Aries. I fall in love fast, fall out of it just as fast, and I have a short fuse.

If someone makes me unhappy, I'm gone.

That's why Gavin was always anxious, fearing I'd ditch him on a whim.

But he didn't know that I was already head over heels for him.

I just had too many pursuers and couldn't tell who was sincere. I let time do the filtering for me.

Gavin was the one who stayed the longest. That only made him more insecure.

Right now, he was clinging to me like an octopus, acting all spoiled.

"Honey, just ignore her. You don't have to reply."

"Let's just focus on us."

I looked at Jocelyn's pink profile picture on the friend request screen. I felt a sudden urge to play along.

"Why should I ignore her?"

"Didn't you say no one can have a girlfriend as long as she's around?"

"Then why not take this chance to shut her down for good!"

I looked at Gavin with a half-smile. With just one glance, he understood exactly what I meant.

"Then at the birthday party tomorrow, I'll help my girl destroy that pick-me girl."
