I toyed with Gavin's hair and accepted Jocelyn's friend request.

The moment I did, she sent several voice notes.

"So you're Gavin's new little girlfriend? I saw your photos. You're not bad looking."

"Though, you're a bit of a step down from his ex."

After hearing that, I looked up at Gavin.

He immediately denied it, raising four fingers to his head. He swore he never had an ex and that I was his first love.

He was also fuming. He didn't expect Jocelyn to go as far as making up lies to cause drama!

His face turned green with anger. He tried to grab my phone to roast her.

I pulled my phone back and gave him a look. He immediately behaved.

The phone buzzed again. Jocelyn sent more messages.

"Girls like you are so annoying with all that whining and nagging."

"I usually hate hanging out with girls. But since Gavin and I have been bros for years, I'll give you some tips on how to keep him."

"Gavin is a man of few words. He hates it when people talk his ear off, so you better not annoy him."

"Also, he absolutely HATES being controlled! Never limit his freedom or give him orders, or your breakup will be just around the corner!"

"Gavin is great, but he values his bros above everything. So if he leaves you to hang out with us, you better just deal with it."

"Trust me, I've known him for years. I know him better than his own mother does!"

After listening to eighteen voice notes, the message was clear. 【Gavin and I are extremely close. You're just a girlfriend; don't overstep.】

The more I listened, the more I wanted to laugh. I looked down at Gavin, who was still clinging to me, and shook my head.

It was obvious. Her little speech was designed to make me angry.

She wanted to drive a wedge between us and make me fight with him.

Once there was a crack in our relationship, she would whisper in his ear to make us break up.

But I wasn't going to fall for that.

I sent a reply back.

"Thank you, big sis! I understand now!"

"Don't worry, sis. I'll make sure to love Gavin properly."

After I sent that, she stopped replying.

I bet she was stunned. She didn't expect me to play nice.

But it didn't matter. In college, your personality is whatever you decide it is that day.

Since I was dealing with a pick-me girl, I decided to play the role of a fake, innocent sweetie!

I decided to strike while the iron was hot.

"Gavin is so lucky to have a bro like you!"

"Don't worry, sis. I'll make sure Gavin takes you out for a private dinner sometime to thank you. Love ya! Mwah!"

The moment I sent that, she replied instantly.

"No need."

"Just keep what I said to yourself!"

"I just want my bro to be happy!"

I almost died laughing at that.

She wants him to be happy, yet she adds his girlfriend behind his back to talk trash?

I kept my thoughts to myself. To keep the act going, I promised not to tell Gavin.

After all, he saw it himself, didn't he?

I finished the conversation and put my phone away. I was really looking forward to that birthday party.

I wanted to see what happened when a pick-me girl met a fake sweetie.
