Chapter 1

My wife, the best-selling author for ten consecutive years, announced her retirement right after her new hit, "Celestial," went viral.

At the book signing, she gripped the microphone with tears in her eyes.

"I dedicate this book to the boy I lost in my youth."

Her deep confession touched the entire internet, leaving countless fans in tears.

Meanwhile, I sat in the high-end steakhouse I had booked six months in advance.

I shredded the movie rights contract she had always dreamed of and replaced it with divorce papers.

Later, I walked away and moved across the ocean.

By the time she started looking for me like a madwoman, I was already gone.

01.

When Sierra Sterling returned home, I had just finished selling my shares in my public company.

She kicked off her heels and complained, "Why aren't the lights on?"

"I didn't feel like it," I replied coldly.

Sierra frowned slightly but didn't say much.

She walked into the kitchen and saw that no dinner was waiting for her as usual.

Pointing at the cold stove, she snapped at me.

"Landon Graves, what is wrong with you? Today is our seventh anniversary! You didn't even cook?"

"Why should I?" I asked her back.

Perhaps my unusual attitude triggered her.

She slammed her designer bag against my face with a loud thud.

"Landon! Don't you dare give me that attitude! So what if I'm a little late?"

"I told you, today was my book signing and my last fan meeting before I retire. Did you expect me to ditch my fans just to eat dinner with you?"

It wasn't right for her to ditch them.

But it was apparently perfectly fine for her to publicly declare her love for Gavin Thorne on our anniversary.

Sitting on the sofa, I suddenly felt pathetic.

I left her with one sentence: "Sierra, let's get a divorce."

Then, I turned and went upstairs.
