I came out of the shower and started packing my suitcase.

Sierra appeared in the bedroom at some point.

Seeing my movements, a flash of panic crossed her usually calm eyes.

She grabbed my hand.

"Honey, I know you're mad about tonight."

I paused for a second.

Sierra continued to shake my arm, acting spoiled.

"It was my fault for being late for our anniversary. Look, I saved a special signed copy of the book just for you. Aren't you happy?"

Looking at the word "Celestial" on the cover, I felt sick.

Mourning her dead first love on our anniversary wasn't enough?

She wanted me to join in the mourning too?

I pushed the book away and spoke coldly.

"Keep this book for Gavin's grave. I don't need it."

Sierra's face turned deathly pale.

She tried to say something, but I had already grabbed my luggage and headed for the door.

Seeing my cold back, she lost her temper too.

"Landon! Enough is enough! Gavin has been dead for years. Is it really necessary to pick a fight over a dead man every single day?"

It wasn't necessary.

But I knew that in Sierra's heart, Gavin was never truly dead.

His habits, his hobbies, and even his old quotes haunted our lives every day.

For seven years, I thought I had finally warmed her heart.

I didn't realize that in her deepest corner, the person she kept was still Gavin.

Since I was always the outsider in this three-person relationship, I decided to leave.

Sierra was furious at my silence.

She grabbed our wedding photo from the wall and threw it at my feet.

"Fine! Go! Leave and don't come back! We'll go to the courthouse tomorrow and finalize the divorce!"
